Kesäkausi käynnistyi toukokuun lopun juhlan valmisteluilla ja jatkui kesälomamatkan odotusjännityksessä. Vino pino toinen toistaan kauniimpia onnittelukortteja on nököttänyt yläkerran kirjoituspöydällä odottamassa Pariisin Disneylandista palannutta kesätyöntekijää.

Blogi on ollut kesäterässä, mutta kamera on keikkunut usein mukana. Valtaisa sato on suven kuvista kertynyt. Vähitellen niitä kahlailen läpi ja luulenpa vain, että Välimeren turkoosiin tunnelmaan on hienoa palata syksyn saapuessa. Lunastin lupaukseni ystävilleni ja kirjoitin osan yhteisellä kielellämme. Valokuvien kieli on onneksi kielimuurin ylittävä.

Birthday

Myönnän palaavani päivittäin lomatunnelmiin. Tänään muistin yhtäkkiä, että tasan kuukausi sitten ylitin totisesti oman mukavuusalueeni ja toteutin syntymäpäiväsankarimme hartaan toiveen retkestä Manolateksen vuoristokylään. 

Onneksi olin pari päivää jo totutellut ajamiseen mutkaisilla, mutta hyväkuntoisilla, vuoristoteillä. Maisemia en paljon rohjennut tiirailla, koska nyt oli minun vuoroni kokea tämä elämys auton ratissa. 

Loukas Taverna ja Kerannymi olivat hyviä syitä kerätä rohkeutta jännittävään nousuun, niin ja tietysti yhteinen ikimuistoinen juhlapäivä. 

Niin vaikuttava tuo matkamuistomme oli, että olin vallan unohtaa toisen merkittävän merkkipaalun. Tänään Koti meidän -blogi täytti kaksi vuotta. Olen ihmeissäni. Juurihan vietimme lasiverannalla yksivuotispäivää. 200 julkaistua postausta on jo ihan kunnioitettava saavutus. Vai mitä!

Toivottavasti matkamuisteloni tuovat lukijallekin mukavaa vaihtelua. Mietin, että pitäisikö perustaa uusi blogi, mutta tuskinpa näillä matkapäivillä. Onhan tämä olennainen osa elämäntapaamme. Haaveilua, intoilua, oleilua ja lopulta muistelua. Kaikki vaiheet yhtä olennaisia ja antoisia. 

Vierailumme oli jo neljäs, mutta silti onnistuin eksymään Manolateksen sokkeloisilla kujilla. Näkymät parkkipaikan näköalapaikalta ja tavernasta ovat häikäisevät. Sanani eivät riitä niitä kuvaamaan. Ne on paras kokea itse.

Our friend Alek Lindus has a studio in the centre of the village. She works there with her friend Maria Karavatou in their company Kerannymi Jewelry. We have been following their artist life in Instagram as well as they like our accounts Koti meidän and tuikku. It feels that we know each other. Lauri made a jewellery box and gave it to Alek as a memory from us.

Alek invited us to her home for a visit which was a lovely experience. This was our first visit in a Greek home. Thank you Alek! The visit was unforgettable. Your home is an inspiring atelier.

This tiny ring box is a new home for my precious souvenier which is made from a piece of sea glass and silver by Maria Karavatou. Alek gave a piece of olive tree to Lauri who made this box for me as a present. It is a union of Finnish and Greek wood. Isn't it wonderful? I love this ring and the box too. It reminds me of my blog's second anniversary. Thank you my dear!

Ireon Samos

Pythagorionin pääkadulta majapaikkamme nurkan takaa vuokrasimme polkupyörät, joilla lähiseuduilla ajelu hyviä teitä pitkin oli tälläkin kertaa huisin mukavaa. Potokakin rantaa myötäilevä pyörätie johdattaa Ireonin pikkutaajamaan, jossa Iiris söi omien sanojensa mukaan matkamme parhaan hedelmäsalaatin. Jäinen frappekin maistui makealta tuulisella rannalla tavernassa.

The road beside the Aegeian sea towards Ireon is wonderful to cycle though this time it was really windy and the only cloud on our vacation followed us almost all the time. 

Iiris had a delicious fruit salad in a taverna by the sea and frappe tasted marvellous after cycling. 

On the way to our holiday home we stopped in Poros Sea Side to eat a proper lunch. I'll show you lovely pictures from this gourgeous place in another post.  Potokaki beach is long and because it's just beside the road you can take a swim every now and then.

 In the evening we went to the east from Pythagorion. After marina there is a lovely olive grove. Cicadas chirp sounds like music. 

Next day we decided to take a good walk up to the hill. Monastery of Panagian is a beautiful and calm sight.  Epphalion tunnel was closed because of renovation.

Here you can take a tiny bike ride in Ireon.

Villa Iiris has come back from Samos. We had a wonderful holiday during those two weeks in Studios Iris.

The reason we booked this special place to stay on our vacation was because last year we saw the sign of Studios Iris.  It accured to be a memorable place to celebrate the 18th birthday of our youngest daughter Iiris. Happy, happy, happy!

Our studio was on the upper floor and we had a balcony and a huge terrace. Room was quite small with three beds but it was cosy to sleep and stay so close to each other. 

Kitchenette

One of the best things was preparing our own breakfast when we wanted. Just around the corner was a nice coffee shop, a great grocery store and couple of supermarkets where you can pick up fresh fruits and other things you need to make something to eat. 

The view from the terrace and the balcony offered two different experiences and it was lovely to choose between those two. In the balcony we had a peaceful place to read a book while eating eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms with a cup of tea or a cappucino. It depended on what the feeling was like in the morning whether we chose to eat our breakfast alone or together. Once we had breakfast in a restaurant, it was really nice but quite expensive for three persons.

All the Greek people we met during our holiday were wonderful. They were happy to meet us and their helpfulness was really unforgettable. Our room was clean and pleasant thanks to a hard-working young woman. Thank you, Eva! 

When we had a lazy morning or a lazy day or a lazy evening it was nice to lay down on the terrace. Sun was shining and life felt completely stress free.

On the street just opposite to Studios Iris is a traditional Greek taverna Genteki. We ate there twice. Their home made bread was  delicious and there are no words to praise their eggplant salad. Their famous coffee we will test next time. 

I have so many beautiful memories from our trip that you should be prepared to read a few more posts about our adventures on this beautiful island.
